What happened in the 80's?

various posters have mentioned how get-togethers and fun times socializing were frowned upon and discouraged somewhere around the early 80's.

everything changed, as far as the picnics, the dinner parties, etc.

i vaguely recall some connection being made to parties and increased "immorality.

I remember that cooling off period too, large gatherings were frowned upon and big gettogethers were poo pooed from the platform.

I also remember in the late 80's the visiting CO telling us off as a congregation because we had a problem with love and because we didn't do anything as a congregation any more. There was a lot of mumbling afterwards because we'd been told to cut all that out and were now being told to do it again.

Personally I think it just helped to create little cliques within the congregation. Family "clans" prayed and played together and everyone else was ignored.

it seems as though many people come to this board and leave in a short space of time.. it's a pity.. there are people on this board who are very nice and polite even when discussing various views.

this leads to understanding and concern.

i would like to meet you people.. please post in here.. i term nice as being kind, not cursing, love for god almighty, thrives on the right things in life, not hurting other's feelings, etc.. blessed star

Bethelite at hall dedication, system may not last until "Deliverance Conv."

through various contacts, i heard this was said by a good bethelite at a local hall dedication.

(i won't quote what was said... i don't want to give away my source.).

plans are being made to attend the deliverance convention in july.

I think most of us on here are too wise to take any notice of wt predictions, wev'e heard them all before, and none have come true. I doubt they ever will.

You can just imagine, milliions of yrs from now just as the sun goes super nova the last dub will pipe up and say "I told you so"

What Things Irritated You While A Witness?

i used to hate it when i'd listen to brother blow give his long winded comment about how we're all supposed to do this or that----and he was barely considered a witness......we had a few elders, and especially the po who would go overtime just because they could.

the po's bookstudy always went overtime.

45 minutes into the meeting he was still on paragraph 3. and he would read every scripture including the ones quoted!!!

Cranky dubs that insisted Everything was possessed by demunz and the Sister Sicklys who you feared asking how they were in case they gave you a long list of this weeks ailments along with a stool sample

as some of you may know, i'm still an active witness and i'm still in the planning stages of my "escape".

i met a sister at a district convention a year ago and i've been talking to her on aim for a while.

i think she is very amusing considering that she is very intelligent and often voices her views on the doctrinal falicies of the wtbs, but when its my turn to give my two cents she makes it seem as if i'm the only poztate.

and whenever he had to sit on a Judicial Committee for fornication or adultery, he wanted every little detail, no matter how embarassing it was for those involved.

Maybe he wsa making money on the side by writing stories for those mags he had in his locker

he was 94.. no need to book a holiday this summer, barmeygeddon is just around the corner...

Sorry, I just can't get into mocking the dead lately.

I find it easy in this case, all I have to do is close my eyes and imagine all the gravestones of all the Df'd that killed themselves because of this mans beliefs. There's a scripture that says something like "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing"
